Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Band 5 Rotational Speech and Language Therapist. The role offers rotations in stroke, neuro and general acute settings, with a 37.5 hour week and a fixed term ending August 2027.

The post suits a patient-centred, enthusiastic SLT keen to work alongside a skilled MDT in a tertiary hospital environment. There is access to CPD, service development opportunities and strong support from senior SLTs.

Qualifications

• Band 5 rotational SLT role in stroke, neuro and general acute rotations.
• Patient-centred and enthusiastic SLT suited to a stimulating, multidisciplinary environment.
• Access to regular CPD sessions and opportunities for service development and research.
• Role available full time or part time (37.5 hours per week).

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the Acute and Stroke SLT team in band 5 rotational areas.
• Provide regular communication assessments and therapy to patients with complex needs.
• Provide regular swallow assessments and therapy where competent and supported to complete dysphagia competencies.
• Represent the SLT service within the acute service.
• Be innovative in patient care and service delivery within MDT initiatives.
• Offer training, supervision and support to less experienced SLTs and other staff.
• Be available to cover bank holidays and weekend work with more senior staff.
