Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Pharmacy Technician to join a large, rotating team at Southampton General Hospital. The role offers progression from band 4 to band 5, with cross-site work at SGH, RSH and SCAS, and training to complete the band 4/5 framework.

You will be supported to develop core competencies, with flexible working and opportunities for professional growth in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Registered pharmacy technician with GPhC or working towards registration within six months.
• Numerate and literate with Maths/English GCSE (A*-C) or equivalent; IELTS if overseas.
• Accurate dispensing in hospital, community, or aseptics.
• Maintains CPD/training portfolio as required by GPhC.
• Able to work antisocial hours and travel to RSH/SGH and other sites.
• Experience with pharmacy IT systems and multiple information tools.

Responsibilities

• Dispense and label medications accurately; issue meds to patients.
• Support SCAS-medication levels, supervise junior staff as workload demands.
• Ward-based learning: obtain accurate med histories and advise patients.
• Gain experience in aseptic clinics: IV antibiotics, TPN, cytotoxic IV/infusions.
