Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a rotational pharmacy technician in Dundee for Band 4/5 posts. You will gain experience in dispensary, stores/distribution, clinical areas providing near patient service, the aseptic dispensing unit and homecare.

To be considered you must be registered with the GPhC or a pre-registration trainee due to qualify with the GPhC in 2026, and be willing to train for the final accuracy check or already hold the qualification.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC or a pre-registration trainee due to qualify and register with the GPhC in 2026.
• Willingness to train to undertake the final accuracy check of dispensed medicines or already have an accuracy checking qualification.
• Rotational experience across dispensary, stores/distribution, clinical areas, aseptic dispensing unit and homecare.

Responsibilities

• Rotational pharmacy technician providing near-patient service across multiple clinical areas.
• Gain experience in dispensary, stores/distribution and aseptic dispensing.
• Participate in the career progression programme and advance to Band 5 after assessment.
• Work 36 hours over a 7-day week; part-time applications considered.

Within NHS Tayside hospital services we have a proud history of developing roles for pharmacy technicians and an organisational structure that promotes pharmacy technician professional leadership. As a rotational pharmacy technician you will gain experience in dispensary, stores/distribution, clinical areas providing near patient service, the aseptic dispensing unit and homecare.

To be considered for this post you must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or a pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician due to qualify and register with the GPhC in 2026. Applicants must be willing to train to undertake the final accuracy check of dispensed medicines or already have a recognised accuracy checking qualification.

Successful candidates will undertake a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician career progression programme to support their professional development. On successful completion of the programme and an interview/assessment the candidate will advance to Band 5.

Hours of work are 36 over a 7-day working week, applications from those wishing to work part-time will be considered.
