Livewell Southwest offers an exciting opportunity within the Plym Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (PNRU) and the Community Neuro Rehab Team (CNRT).
We are looking to recruit two Band 6 Occupational Therapists to work on a 12-month rotation between these two teams.
This role is ideal for OTs interested in neuro-rehabilitation. There is potential for future expansion of the rotation to include acute neurology and inpatient stroke rehabilitation.
The Plym NeuroRehab Unit is a regional level 2a facility providing intensive inpatient neurorehabilitation for patients from Devon and Cornwall.
The CNRT has recently received significant funding and has redesigned its services to deliver the ICSS model of care for stroke and neurological patients in Plymouth, South Hams, and West Devon.
Both teams are now based at the Local Care Centre, Mount Gould Hospital, Plymouth, with new facilities to support staff and patient needs.
The post requires flexibility, potentially including 7-day working within core hours.
The post holder will act alongside the Team Lead to plan, coordinate, deliver, develop, and evaluate the service daily.
You will be clinically responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services under the guidance of the Team Lead and as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
You will provide advice, signposting, guidance, and information to healthcare professionals, patients, carers, and others.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will manage your caseload independently.
Ongoing professional development in line with HCPC regulations is expected.
Each rotation lasts nine months, with potential future expansion into other organizations.

Responsibilities include providing leadership, covering for absent staff, and deputizing for the team lead, including operational duties such as triage and waiting list management.
You will coordinate daily activities of OT and admin staff, supervise workloads, and participate in recruitment and training processes.
Supporting staff development, supervising students, and facilitating training are key aspects of the role.
You will plan and lead interventions and health education groups, educate patients and carers, and support complaint management.
Other duties include assessing and prescribing aids and equipment, recommending minor adaptations, and ensuring equipment safety and maintenance.
Financial responsibilities involve authorizing spend within delegated limits and working cost-effectively.
You will maintain professional standards, manage your caseload effectively, and ensure accurate record-keeping in line with policies and regulations.
Discharge planning, outcome measurement, and communication with external agencies are also part of the role.
Additional responsibilities include adhering to legal requirements regarding mental capacity and safeguarding, and participating in MDT functions.
Environmental assessments, complex interventions, and conditions relevant to your practice area will also be part of your duties.
This role requires a DBS check due to the nature of the work, in accordance with legal requirements.
