South Lakes Birth Centre is located within Furness General Hospital in Barrow-in-Furness and is our most recent purpose-built maternity unit. The Birth Centre includes a Maternity Triage, Day Assessment Unit, two Maternity Theatres, and the Community Midwifery Offices.

We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer a range of general hospital services, including full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various consultant-led services. WGH provides general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and can handle non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three hospitals provide planned care, including outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. Additionally, a range of outreach services and diagnostics are available across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are delivered in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals, and main hospitals. Our goal is to work with individuals to help them remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
