Job Description:

Job overview

Suitable for qualified Midwives or third year Student Midwives due to qualify in 2024.

Join us on our improvement journey in Northern Lincolnshire and Goole. The preceptorship position for newly qualified Midwives offers the opportunity to consolidate your midwifery skills and knowledge as a rotational midwife in a forward-looking service with staff who have the enthusiasm and passion to improve the care of women and their families.

We have exciting opportunities for newly registered midwives to join our experienced maternity workforce and contribute to making us the best we can be.

We are looking for individuals who embody the values of our trust: Kindness, Courage, and Respect, which are central to the care they provide. The successful candidates must be passionate, kind, considerate, and uphold the standards of the NMC in all aspects of their profession.

Main duties of the job

Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care in various environments without supervision.

For newly qualified Midwives, support, supervise, and teach less experienced staff on the ward/team after completing the preceptorship period, relevant to clinical and non-clinical procedures and practices.

Work autonomously within the department/team following Trust guidelines and within the sphere of professional practice.

Working for our organisation

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust is part of one of the largest NHS acute and community groups, serving over one million patients annually with a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Comprising two Trusts—NLAG and HUTH—our Group has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for 1.65 million people.

We employ nearly 20,000 staff across five main hospital sites, including Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital, Goole and District Hospital, Hull Royal Infirmary, and Castle Hill Hospital. As teaching hospitals affiliated with Hull York Medical School, we lead and contribute to diverse research areas including biomedical, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery, and oncology.

We believe that developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled, and caring workforce enables us to deliver excellent patient care and a promising future for our staff, community, and organisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are committed to offering flexible working options to promote health, wellbeing, and work-life balance, positively impacting the care provided.

Flexible working supports our goal to improve staff experience and is a key factor in recruitment and retention. We encourage open discussions to tailor working patterns to individual needs, ensuring fairness and equality regardless of role, shift pattern, team, or pay, based on service and staff needs.

We aim to foster a fair, supportive environment where contributions are valued, and staff are empowered to perform at their best. We are dedicated to promoting staff health and wellbeing, aligning with NHS values, and being an Employer of Choice. We value diversity and welcome applications irrespective of age, disability, sex, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances.

In line with GDPR, our Recruitment & Workforce team will handle your data per our Privacy Statement.
