Job summary

A leading integrated care system is seeking a Rotational Mental Health Pharmacist to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care within a progressive team. This role offers the opportunity to enhance clinical skills in a supportive environment, with progression from Band 6 to Band 7 position based on competencies. The ideal candidate will support specialist mental health services and undertake postgraduate training following a successful probation.

Qualifications

  • GPhC registration as a pharmacist is essential.
  • Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent required.
  • One year of completed pre-registration training is necessary.

We are recruiting for a GPHC-registered Pharmacist , who shares our vision to provide outstanding care and an exemplary service to our service users. *Current foundation trainees will not be considered.

As a Band 6 Pharmacist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to our service users, with support to progress into a Band 7 post. * Applicants who are able to demonstrate current practice and knowledge skills at a Band 7 level, will be considered for a Band 7 position with us.

We are looking for a highly motivated Pharmacist to join our innovative, progressive, patient-centred Pharmacy team. We are a friendly department and will support you to become an outstanding clinical pharmacist and help you fulfil your full potential.

You will be involved in covering specialist mental health services including; acute mental health, PICU, forensics, CAMHS, and care of the elderly; and building your portfolio to demonstrate advanced pharmacy skills.

We will also support you to undertake relevant post graduate training following a successful probationary period.

Main duties of the job

BAND 6

1. To be responsible for the provision and contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services, in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacists.

2. To provide input into policy and procedures affecting the use of pharmaceuticals at both local and trust wide levels under direction.

3. To provide and participate in the following: ward-based clinical pharmacy, in-patient and outpatient dispensing (including supporting the clozapine dispensing service), patient counselling, medicines information, audit.

BAND 7

1. The Senior Clinical Pharmacist will play a pivotal role in delivering a high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy service to mental health wards, forensic wards, community teams, and rehabilitation and crisis services within the Trust. This includes supporting medicines optimisation, promoting safe and effective use of medicines, and contributing to clinical governance.

2. The post-holder will supervise junior staff and trainees, contribute to education and training initiatives, and support quality improvement (QI) programs.

3. The role requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and external partners, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving service needs.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • GPhC registration as a pharmacist.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
  • 1 year's completed pre-registration training and experience.
  • Knowledge of hospital ward-based pharmacy service provision.
  • Experience of working with services users with mental health issues and / or Mental Health experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Good clinical skills /knowledge.
  • Good time management (including ability to plan and organise workload)
PERSONAL QUALITIES
  • Good oral & written communication skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
