Moorfields Eye Hospital seeks a Clinical Pharmacist to join a leading team in providing quality Pharmacy services. The role involves various rotations and responsibilities in clinical Pharmacy across different sites, ensuring patient care and compliance with regulations. Job summary
The post holder will gain experience in various rotations such as Clinical Pharmacy services including Outpatient, Daycare, Medicines Information, and Paediatric Patients at the Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre (RDCEC). The Pharmacist will also complete rotations within the Moorfields North and South networks at the following sites: Ealing, Northwick Park, St Ann's, Stratford, St. George's and Croydon satellite pharmacies.The post holder must be enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to learn new skills. Participation will also be required in late duties and Saturdays on a rotational basis depending on service requirements.We welcome applicants from newly qualified Pharmacists and those with a previous experience in Community Pharmacy.
Main duties of the jobAssist in the provision of a patient-focused clinical Pharmacy service to wards and departments throughout the Trust and its network sites.To provide a Clinical Pharmacy and Dispensing service for patients in the Outpatient and Daycare settings including clinical areas where private practice is undertaken, and in the Paediatric Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre (RDCEC) as well as a rotation within the Moorfields network site satellite pharmacies.To assist in the provision of the specialist Ophthalmic Medicines Information Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.To assist in the provision of education and training within the Pharmacy department.The post holder will be expected to participate in the department's structured band 6 training programme.

Act as responsible Pharmacist and professional lead in dispensary services (outpatients and day care). Ensure safety and security of staff and drugs within the Pharmacy department. Ensure compliance with current legislation under the Medicines Act for dispensing, supply and sale of medicines. Monitor for fraudulent prescriptions and ensure that prescription charges are taken, where appropriate. Manage and prioritise workload within the dispensary. Assist in organisation of the rotas within the department. Perform clinical checks on prescriptions. Ensure that medicines are prescribed in accordance with the Trust formulary. Ensure that relevant patient monitoring is undertaken where required for certain drugs, e.g., immunosuppressant drugs. Perform accuracy checks on dispensed medicines. Dispense prescriptions when necessary. Counsel patients on appropriate use of their medicines provide advice on drug doses, possible side effects and how to obtain further supplies, if required. Deal with complaints from patients, carers and other healthcare professionals. Ensure accurate record keeping, e.g. for Controlled Drugs and Named Patient drugs. Be responsible for regular Controlled Drug checks and ensure that the storage and record keeping standards for all drugs are adhered to at all times. Report medication incidents and Pharmacy interventions on the Trust incident reporting system. Collect money for prescriptions (where applicable) and invoices and reconcile the cash register money collection at the end of the day. To generate invoices and manage invoice queries for private outpatient and/or discharge prescriptions using the Compucare system. Communicate with primary care colleagues, e.g. GPs and community Pharmacists regarding queries and continuation supply.
