Overview

An opportunity is available for an inpatient Physiotherapist to join our innovative team at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, based in Harlow, Essex. We provide ongoing care to a broad range of patients, ranging from those who are critically unwell, to those who need minimal rehabilitation or assessment and advice.

You will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, advice, treatment and evaluation of patients referred to the acute Inpatient Physiotherapy Service, including patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.

Responsibilities

As a senior member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will be integral to the efficient and effective running of the Physiotherapy service. You will:

  • assist the Specialty Team Lead in providing the highest standard of care to patients referred to the service
  • work to improve the service where needed
  • supervise rotational physiotherapists and support them in their work
  • lead the clinical education and practice of student physiotherapists and assist in department-wide training
  • often work without direct supervision and manage your own caseload for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type
  • communicate effectively with patients, carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team; advocate on behalf of patients for safety and a positive experience
Rotation and Employment Details
  • Rotation are 9 monthly and cover: Acute Medicine; Care of the Elderly; Surgery and Critical Care; Orthopaedics (elective and #NOF ward); ED and Frailty; possible opportunities with community partners in HCT and EPUT

This is a part time post of 15 hours per week and forms part of a job share. Assistance could be provided for suitable return to practice candidates.
