Job summary

National Gas is seeking a developing engineer or project professional to build a long-term career in Rotating Machinery. Working within the West Area Rotating Machinery team, you will support safe and successful delivery of projects involving compressors, gas generators, power turbines, auxiliary systems, controls and electric-drive machinery across a high-hazard gas transmission environment.

This is a genuine development role.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/degree or apprenticeship in engineering or related discipline.
• Strong interest in rotating machinery, mechanical equipment or energy infrastructure.
• Organised and proactive approach to manage actions across multiple workstreams.
• Clear written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Awareness of project delivery fundamentals: scope, time, cost, risk, QA and safety.

Responsibilities

• Support rotating machinery capital projects from definition through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover and close-out.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, operations, site teams, commercial colleagues and suppliers.
• Develop scopes, delivery plans, schedules, cost forecasts and risk registers.
• Coordinate technical and project information; ensure decisions and approvals are visible.
• Participate in design reviews, testing, commissioning readiness and asset acceptance.
• Support contractor coordination and monitor delivery against safety, quality, cost and schedule.
• Build knowledge of gas turbines, compressors, electric-drive systems and related controls.
