Boeing Test & Evaluation UK (BT&E UK) is currently looking for a Rotary Wing Senior Flight Test Engineer to join the team in
Middle Wallop, UK.BT&E UK is Boeing Defence UK's flight test organisation responsible for delivery of developmental and maintenance flight operations. BT&E UK is currently conducting Chinook and Apache maintenance flying and testing, as well as planning for future flight trials on Boeing aircraft in the UK and overseas.
The test and evaluation engineer conducts the development and verification of test methods and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity. They develop detailed test procedures, configurations and instrumentation requirements to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of a test plan. They execute the test safely and report post test data accurately. They are expected to capture and apply lessons learned to improve test procedures.
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Direct test programs and conduct T&E activity on non-production aircraft
- Develop planning and execution documents; test plans, test procedures, hazard analyses and reports
- Lead customer and stakeholder meetings in developing and delivering test programmes
- Participate in programme planning including programme proposals and through-life programme development
- Coordination of remote-base logistics and trials activities
- Identify risks, issues and opportunities and support the development and execution of mitigation plans
- Represent Boeing T&E/Flight Operations at Middle Wallop and other locations
- Provide T&E support to the Boeing Design Team and assist with product development and certification activities
- Periodic support to Boeing Flight Operations at other global Boeing sites as required
- Mentorship and guidance for junior team members
- Management of budgets and communication of related performance
Required competencies:- Must be able to pass an EASA Class II and FAA (Class III) Medical
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Demonstrate previous experience in planning and executing Rotary wing T&E activities
- A detailed knowledge of helicopter performance and handling qualities
- Knowledge of test plan, test design document, and test procedure development/release and configuration control processes
- Previous experience of working within a Combined Test Team
- Knowledge of the UK Military and Civil Aviation regulatory environment
- Knowledge of Safety and Quality Assurance process interactions with test operations, including incident notifications, and anomaly documentation and resolution processes
- Clear understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle
- Ability to communicate clearly using Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- The role will have significant UK-wide Boeing interface and therefore a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is required
Preferred competencies:- Detailed technical knowledge of Boeing rotary wing aircraft
- Knowledge of the Ship Air Release process
- T&E Experience on fixed wing or UAS aircraft
- Graduate of a UK military recognized test pilot school (ETPS, EPNER, USAFTPS or USNTPS) or Aerosystems course
- Experience in working with international collaborative organisations or partnerships
