A high-profile family in Kensington seeks a professional Rota Governor/Governess to care for their children in a structured, formal household. The role involves a two-week-on/two-week-off schedule with responsibilities including managing routines, overseeing mealtimes, and supporting the children's educational activities. Salary: £65,000 – £95,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: Rota position, two weeks on/two weeks off; 6:00am – 8:30pm when on duty
Job Description:
An experienced and professional rota Governor or Governess is required for a family based in Kensington, with a second residence in the countryside and occasional travel to other destinations. This is a two-week-on/two-week-off rotation with working hours from 6:00am to 8:30pm. Separate accommodation (a two-bedroom apartment) is provided five minutes from the family home for the duration of your duty weeks. The role involves caring primarily for a 6-year-old child. At times, you may also care briefly for the siblings aged 3 and 7. There is also a baby in the household, but this child is not your responsibility. An after-school tutor is also in place to support the children. Duties include morning routines (dressing, breakfast, school runs), diary and wardrobe management, organising playdates and activities, overseeing mealtimes (food prepared by the chef), managing children’s admin, liaising with teachers, and supporting the children’s evening and bedtime routines. This is a fully staffed household, and everyone pulls together. The housekeepers are responsible for the laundry and there is a chef who cooks for the family. You will not have to cook but it will be requirement for you to heat the food prepared and oversee mealtimes. Your day will end with the bedtime routine and encourage the children to read. The children have a balanced upbringing and love to play chess, games, play musical instruments and learn additional languages.
