Job Description

Job title: Room Attendant

Department: Housekeeping

Inspired & supported by: Executive Housekeeper

Salary: £14.83 (including service charge)

Shifts: Morning: 08:30 - 17:00; Evening: 14:30 - 23:00

Your purpose will be: To take pride in creating the finest presentation of guest bedrooms and public areas, ensuring standards are met and guest expectations are exceeded. You will start by specializing in guest rooms and have opportunities to develop skills in public areas, laundry, and cloakroom to become a well-rounded Guest Servicing Agent.

You will be accountable for:

  • Undertaking all servicing requirements of guests in line with standards, aiming for memorable personalisation.
  • Handling guest requests, belongings, and personal items with care, security, and discretion.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in public areas.
  • Engaging in meaningful conversations to create memorable moments for guests.
  • Processing guest garments and staff uniforms accurately.
  • Prioritizing guest satisfaction at all times.

Your key responsibilities & contribution will be:

  • Preparing guest rooms and public areas within allocated timeframes.
  • Replenishing mini-bar items, glasses, mugs, and cutlery.
  • Reporting maintenance or cleanliness issues through proper channels and following up.
  • Inspecting and returning rooms to standards after guest departure.
  • Completing room audits for occupied and departure rooms.
  • Keeping service areas tidy and coordinated with porters.
  • Cleaning and maintaining public areas including corridors, staircases, lifts, and toilets.

To assist in guest cloakrooms:

  • Providing directions and assisting with guest inquiries.
  • Handling guest property securely and efficiently.
  • Liaising with security on guest items concerns.
  • Replenishing and maintaining cleanliness of guest toilets and public spaces.

To assist in laundry and valet services:

  • Processing laundry, dry cleaning, and pressing for guests.
  • Assisting with packing/unpacking and room moves.
  • Polishing shoes and recording charges accurately.
  • Operating laundry equipment properly.
  • Managing linen stocks and inventories.
  • Processing and distributing staff uniforms, reporting damages/missing items.
  • Communicating hotel services and facilities to guests.
  • Ensuring safe use of master keys and other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Physical ability to kneel, push, pull, lift, carry, reach, stand, and walk frequently.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and work under pressure.
  • Warm, enthusiastic personality with strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, adaptable, responsible, and detail-oriented.
  • Desire to develop skills in public areas, laundry, and cloakroom.

Desirable:

  • Minimum 1 year in hospitality, with at least 6 months in housekeeping.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and various shifts.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
