Job summary

Mears Group is seeking an experienced Roofer in Essex. The role is full-time, permanent, with 42.5 hours per week (8-5, Monday to Friday) and a salary up to £38,000 per year plus a company van and fuel card.

You will perform roofing repairs, tile replacements, chimney work, and flat roof installations while maintaining high safety standards. The position involves liaising with tenants and supervising teams, supporting maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with Decent Homes standards.

Qualifications

• UK full driving license is required.
• Proven ability to perform roofing repairs across occupied and void properties.
• Commitment to health and safety regulations on site.

Responsibilities

• General roofing repairs across occupied and void properties.
• Replacement of roof tiles, felt roofing, and wooden battens.
• Chimney repairs and replacements.
• Installation and repair of flat roofs, including felt and asphalt systems.
• Lead work including flashings, soakers, and valley gutters.
• Repair and installation of ridge tiles, verge tiles, and hip tiles.
• Guttering and downpipe repairs and replacements.
• Fascia, soffit, and barge board installation and maintenance.
• Roof insulation works to joists and rafters.
• Installation and repair of roof vents and eaves ventilation.
• Emergency call-outs to make properties safe after storms or leaks.
• Accurate recording of materials used and time spent on jobs.
• Liaising with tenants and site supervisors to minimize disruption.
