Job summary

On Track Group Ltd is seeking a Rolling Stock Technician to maintain and service Class 398 rolling stock. The role covers electrical maintenance, inspections, fault diagnosis, and repairs to keep trains safe and compliant with rail standards.

This is a fixed-term contract ending on 31 March 2027 and offers an hourly rate aligned with industry norms. You will read technical manuals, work with a multidisciplinary team, and document work performed, parts used, and campaigns.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 or Apprenticeship in relevant discipline.
• Previous experience as a technician in the rail industry.
• Strong electrical and electronic diagnostic and repair skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
• Excellent attention to detail and good teamwork abilities.

Rolling stock technician - Class 398

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday (Days) 8-10 hours per day

Contract: To 31st March 2027

As a Rolling Stock Technician, you will be responsible for performing a range of electrical maintenance and servicing tasks on rolling stock, ensuring that they are kept in optimal condition and meet all safety and regulatory requirements. This will include conducting inspections, diagnosing, and repairing faults and carrying out enhanced maintenance exam work, completing outstanding campaigns, material replenishment & modification work fitment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting inspections of rolling stock and identifying any faults or issues
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic faults
• Carrying out enhanced maintenance exam work maintenance tasks
• Ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements
• Maintaining accurate records of work completed and any parts used
• Material replenishment
• Modification work fitment
• Communicating effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate work and resolve any issues
• Adhering to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines

Requirements:
