Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Leeds seeks a Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician to support the team. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis experience, with full training provided if needed.

You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose faults, assist in skill development, move rolling stock within the depot, and manage spares while aiming for continuous improvement and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Rolling stock experience preferred but training will be provided.
• Experience documenting actions and operations to procedures.
• Knowledge of tools, equipment and PPE and basic health & safety.
• Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic and fault-finding.
• Ability to read technical publications and adapt to procedures.
• Flexibility to accommodate shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine maintenance and repair of rolling stock per the production plan.
• Carry out download diagnosis and fault-finding to a basic level.
• Assist team members with developing technical skills.
• Depot driving and movement of rolling stock within depot limits.
• Identify, order and collect spares and materials from stores.
• Assist with cleaning of rolling stock when required.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities benefiting customers and business.
• Share best practices with colleagues on site and other sites.

We are currently recruiting for a Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician to support our Team in Leeds. We are looking for someone with strong electrical, mechanical and fault diagnosis experience. Rail experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

You’ll make a difference by:

• Undertake routine maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan
• Carry out download diagnosis and fault-finding to a basic level
• Assist other team members with the development of technical skills
• Depot driving - Movement of allocated rolling stock within the depot limits.
• Identify, order and collect spares and materials from stores
• Assist with cleaning of rolling stock when required
• Actively identify continuous improvement opportunities within own activities that will benefit customers and the business
• Actively participate in sharing best practice with colleagues and other teams on own site and other sites

You’ll make an impact by...

• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Rolling stock experience preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
• Experience in documenting actions and operations accurately and to procedures
• Good knowledge and understanding for cares of tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate
• Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
• Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic, fault-finding and rectification purposes
• Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications
• Flexibility to accommodate shifts patterns is required
