Maintenance Technician

Type: Contract Days £18.86 Per Hour
Travel Requirement: Ideally live within 1 hour of depot

Your Role & Impact

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repair on Class 185 train units to meet production schedules
  • Conduct mechanical fault diagnosis, including fault downloads and basic troubleshooting
  • Operate depot driving within site limits
  • Source, order, and retrieve necessary spares and materials
  • Support with rolling stock cleaning and upkeep
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and share best practices with peers

What You Bring

  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical experience / NVQ Level 3 Equivalent
  • Background in mechanical fault-finding and repairs (on heavy rolling stock, vehicles, or machinery)
  • Competency in using laptops for diagnostic testing and mechanical diagnostics
  • Experience with documenting maintenance activities and following technical procedures
  • Understanding of tools, PPE care, H&S, biohazards, manual handling, and COSHH
  • Ability to interpret engineering and maintenance manuals
