Job summary

Comton Group in West Bromwich is seeking an experienced Rolling Mill Setter to join our manufacturing team. You will set up, operate and monitor rolling mill machinery to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently and to quality standards, working a rotating two-shift pattern.

The role offers a 39-hour week with a basic rate of £14.50 per hour plus a 22% rotating shift allowance (equivalent to £17.69 per hour on rotating shifts).

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating rolling mill machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to adjust machines.
• Experience in manufacturing/metal processing.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust rolling mill machinery for production.
• Operate rolling mill equipment safely and efficiently.
• Carry out regular checks and adjustments to maintain product quality.
• Monitor machinery and production processes, identifying and resolving issues.
• Ensure products meet specifications and quality standards.
• Complete tooling changes, machine adjustments and set-ups as required.
• Carry out routine quality checks and record production information.

Rolling Mill Setter

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Rolling Mill Setter to join our clients team and support our continued growth.

As a Rolling Mill Setter, you will be responsible for setting, operating and monitoring rolling mill machinery to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will play an important role in maintaining production output while ensuring all work is completed in line with company procedures and health and safety requirements.

Hours of Work

The role operates on a rotating two-shift pattern:

Week 1 – Early Shift

Monday – Thursday: 6:00am – 2:00pm

Friday: 6:00am – 1:00pm

Week 2 – Late Shift

Monday – Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm

Friday: 1:00pm – 8:00pm

Total: 39 hours per week

Pay

• £14.50 per hour basic rate
• 22% rotating shift allowance
• Equivalent to £17.69 per hour while working the rotating shift pattern

About You

• Previous experience as a Rolling Mill Setter or in a similar manufacturing/metal processing role.
• Experience setting and operating production machinery.
• Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to make machine adjustments.
• A strong understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality products.
• Flexibility to work the required rotating shift pattern.
