Job summary

Roemex is looking for a motivated Graduate/Junior Laboratory Chemist to join our Portlethen team on a six-month fixed-term, full-time contract (35 hours per week). The role offers practical industrial experience across customer projects, product development, quality-control testing and laboratory evaluations in the energy sector.

You will perform QC testing on materials, calibrate equipment, prepare and log samples, and assist chemists on projects.

Qualifications

• Qualification to degree level in Chemistry, or similar, OR proven experience in a laboratory environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages – Word, Excel, Teams etc.

Responsibilities

• Works safely and effectively in a laboratory environment.
• Performs QC testing on raw materials and formulated products.
• Performs daily and weekly QC equipment calibrations as required.
• Prepares and packages samples and equipment for sample dispatch.
• Logs all incoming and outgoing samples.
• Orders consumables and maintains laboratory stock levels.
• Tests drain samples and reports results as required.
• Elastomer compatibility testing.
• Metal coupon compatibility testing.
• Chemical compatibility testing.
• Assists chemists and senior chemists in project work.

The position is based at our Portlethen facility and requires on‑site attendance throughout the working week. It is not a remote or hybrid role, so applicants must be able to commute reliably to Portlethen.
