Robotics/Mechatronics Project Engineer

Triton Systems' Robotics and Anti-Tamper Group focuses on developing solutions in applied robotics, AI and ML, weapons platform technologies, FOD removal and relocation, secure communications, radiation sensors, and advanced guidance (PNT) to enhance operational capabilities, efficiency, and safety in complex environments.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer interested in innovative R&D and creating new technologies. Our diverse projects offer experience across the product development cycle in a fast-paced setting. The group focuses on robotics, AI/ML, communication systems, guidance, navigation, control, environmental monitoring, projectile monitoring/certification, and sensor data fusion. We seek an experienced engineer to help expand our capabilities in these areas.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop analyses and theories for mechanical or control systems related to autonomous or tethered robotic vehicles, including hardware and control designs.
  2. Assist project personnel during technical studies, product design, specifications, technical plans, and testing.
  3. Execute engineering programs and collaborate with project staff according to requirements.
  4. Engage in ideation, technology research, and product development.
  5. Prepare reports and present results to customers in written and oral formats.
  6. Be a self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Industry experience in prototype fabrication and testing is highly desirable.
  2. Experience with structural mechanics, heat transfer, and fluids analysis.
  3. Leadership experience in technical teams and projects.
  4. Experience with SBIR programs and DoD aerospace projects is preferred.
  5. Familiarity with COMSOL and FEA or Multiphysics analysis software.
  6. Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals related to robotics, unmanned vehicles, human-centered design, manufacturing, and prototype fabrication.
  7. Hands-on experimental and fabrication experience.
  8. Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods.
  9. Proficiency in solid modeling (SolidWorks), MATLAB, Simulink, and ROS.
  10. Adaptability and eagerness to learn new technologies in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  11. A broad interest in science and technology, with a desire to expand into new fields.

Education/Experience

  1. BSc or MSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or Aerospace Engineering; advanced degrees are a plus.
  2. 5-10 years of R&D experience in design, product development, or related fields.
