Job summary

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. in Frimley, UK seeks a Robotics Electrical Engineer IV to drive electrical architectures for autonomous forklifts and tow tractors.

You will collaborate with mechanical, software, test, manufacturing and procurement teams to package sensors and compute hardware and support validation. You will lead a small team, mentor entry-level engineers and ensure designs meet durability, safety and regulatory standards while remaining manufacturable and serviceable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years of electrical engineering experience in product development and design.
• Ability to use fault-finding and diagnostics tools (DVMs, oscilloscopes, dataloggers).
• Familiarity with vehicle/industrial communication networks (CANbus, SAE J1939, CANopen).
• Familiarity with electrical CAD to model harnesses and prepare drawings.
• Knowledge of EU machinery directive, EMC, low voltage, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering management in developing electrical architectures.
• Collaborate with global design teams to develop DVP&Rs including durability, safety and regulatory considerations.
• Lead a small team and deliver innovative solutions meeting cost/quality requirements.
• Drive verification and validation at component and truck levels.
• Engage with production and vendors to optimize for manufacture.
• Release design packages to stakeholders using company processes.
• Participate in issue triage and corrective action with service teams.
• Document design rationale, changes and issues; communicate across teams.
• Hands-on building of prototype harnesses and subsystems.
• Lead entry-level engineers.
