Job summary

TXM Recruit is seeking a Robot & Automation Engineer to join a specialist engineering business in Bedford, delivering automated assembly solutions across automotive and industrial sectors. You will be part of a small team developing, programming and commissioning automated systems.

The role covers concept to commissioning, offline simulations, hardware integration and robot programming, with ABB or FANUC robot experience preferred. A hands-on problem-solver will thrive in this role.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with industrial robot programming.
  • Experience with upfront EIO programming and robot set-up.
  • Experience with offline robot programming and simulation.
  • Experience setting up and integrating associated automation hardware.
  • Previous experience with ABB or FANUC robots.
  • Ability to work across upfront design/simulation and hands-on programming and commissioning.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical ability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop initial concepts and offline robot simulations.
  • Support technical specifications and equipment sourcing.
  • Develop automated systems and simulated layouts.
  • Robot programming and initial hardware set-up.
  • Hands-on system building, programming and integration.
  • Commission automated systems at customer sites.
  • Support final system integration and customer handover.
  • Work with equipment including weld guns, weld timers, MIG, sealant and gluing equipment, cameras and vision systems.
  • Collaborate with wider engineering team from concept to completion.

Location: Bedford
Salary: £48,000 – £55,000
Permanent | Full-time

Are you an experienced Robot & Automation Engineer looking for a varied role where you can be involved in projects from initial concept right through to final commissioning?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist engineering business delivering automated assembly solutions across the automotive and wider industrial sectors.

Working as part of a small team of highly skilled engineers, you’ll play a key role in the development, programming and commissioning of automated systems.

The Role
  • Developing initial concepts and carrying out offline robot simulations
  • Supporting technical specifications and equipment sourcing
  • Developing automated systems and simulated layouts
  • Robot programming and initial hardware set-up
  • Hands-on system building, programming and integration
  • Commissioning automated systems at customer sites
  • Supporting final system integration and customer handover
  • Working with associated equipment including weld guns, weld timers, MIG welding equipment, sealant and gluing equipment, cameras and vision systems
  • Working closely with the wider engineering team to deliver projects from concept through to completion
Requirements
  • Previous hands-on experience with industrial robot programming
  • Experience with upfront EIO programming and robot set-up
  • Experience with offline robot programming and simulation
  • Experience setting up and integrating associated automation hardware
  • Previous experience with ABB or FANUC robots
  • Ability to work across both upfront design/simulation and hands-on programming and commissioning
  • Strong problem-solving and technical ability
Desirable
  • Experience with KUKA or Yaskawa robots
  • Experience with PLC systems or PLC programming
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal
  • Experience using robot simulation software to develop offline programs and simulated layouts
