Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide end-to-end solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering, and home decarbonisation. This role is within our Metering team, the leading provider of metering services in the UK energy retail sector, offering efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity, and water meters.

Our meter readers install, maintain, and manage meters to ensure accurate billing and monitor energy usage patterns.

What will you be doing?

As a Roaming Engineer, you'll respond to emergency and maintenance appointments for EON, ensuring customers' Smart Meters are working correctly. You enjoy working independently, chatting with customers, and meeting new people. Customer service is our top priority. You'll complete installations and removals of SMETS2 smart meters in customers' homes, typically doing around 5 jobs per day, with an uncapped bonus for additional jobs.

You will travel around your area using your tablet to see your schedule, which is available up to 2 weeks in advance. Continuous training will be provided to develop your skills. 83% of our field management team have been promoted from technician roles, offering career longevity. Health and safety are central to everything you do, with thorough onboarding to prepare you as an ambassador for safety. Weekly meetings and support from field managers ensure you are never alone, and every day offers new opportunities to shine.

What you’ll bring
  • Valid UK driving license - held for at least 1 year with fewer than 6 points.
  • Qualifications such as CCN1 / CMA1 / CMA3 with MET1, or NVQ Level 2 in Smart Metering Dual Fuel.
  • Experience installing gas and electric smart meters.
  • Previous MOCOPA experience at a multi-rate level.

Additional qualifications like REGT1, 3-phase, or registration on the EUSR portal are advantageous but not required.
