Job summary

The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council seeks three Roadworkers to join the Highway Delivery Unit at Wakefield Road Depot, Bradford. You will drive LGV Class CE/C, use hand tools, measure work, and perform asphalt and concrete tasks to high standards.

Outdoors in all weather, you will assist with drainage, ironwork, signage and safety measures, while taking part in winter maintenance rostra and emergency callouts as required.

Qualifications

• Experience driving LGV and operating highway plant and equipment.
• Ability to read measurements and record results accurately.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Drive Large Goods Vehicle Class CE or Class C and operate highway plant and equipment.
• Carry out hand tool work for excavations, tipping and filling with precision.
• Spread and compact granular bituminous materials and place concrete as required.
• Flag, kerb/edge, install street furniture and drainage; maintain drainage works.
• Sign, cone and protect works per Health & Safety at Work Act and New Roads & Street Works Act.
• Winter maintenance duties including driving a gritter and on-call emergency rota.

Job IntroductionThe Highway Delivery Unit is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the highway network within the City of Bradford MDC together with Winter Maintenance operations. We are looking for three Roadworker's to join our team. The positions are based at Wakefield Road Depot, Bradford.The main purpose of the role:-Drive Large Goods Vehicle Class CE or Class C and competent in all aspects of other highway plant and equipment. (Band 7)Manual use of use of hand tools in excavations, tipping and filling.Numeracy and Literacy to measure work and complete records.Ability to carry out; High quality output of Spreading and compaction of granular bituminous materials, Mixing and placing concrete, Flagging, kerbing/edging, Placing, erection of street furniture, fencing works which must meet specification and quality standards.Installation and adjustment of various Ironwork and drainage works.The signing, coning and protection of the works in accordance with the requirements of Health & safety at Work Act and New Roads and Street Works Act.Driving of Gritter in Winter maintenance Operations.
