Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group is seeking reliable Highways Operatives to join our team in Eastbourne and surrounding areas. The role focuses on highways and infrastructure projects, offering a path to a long-term career in civil engineering.

You will carry out maintenance and groundwork tasks, operate tools, manage traffic control, and work outdoors in all weather, with emphasis on safety and teamwork. Immediate starts available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in highways, civils, groundwork, or construction preferred.
• CSCS card essential.
• Streetworks / NRSWA ticket advantageous.
• CPCS or NPORS plant tickets beneficial.
• Good attitude and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general highways maintenance and groundwork duties.
• Assist with road repairs, drainage, kerbing, paving, and reinstatement works.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Set up and maintain traffic management where required.
• Follow all health & safety procedures on site.
• Work as part of a team to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Support supervisors and site management with daily tasks.
