Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to deliver expert roadside repairs and diagnostics across the UK, starting and finishing from home and serving members on the road. You’ll work in the Reading and Oxford clusters, focusing on local areas to get members back on the road quickly.

You’ll need NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience or 5+ years as a Vehicle Technician, plus a full UK driving licence with under 6 points.

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience, or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Where you’ll workYou’ll be part of the Reading cluster, covering areas like Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley‑on‑Thames, Crowthorne, Sandhurst.

You’ll be part of the Oxford cluster, covering areas like Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Witney, Bicester, Thame.We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need:

• Either:
• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experienceor5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• and
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside – combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.The RAC has been a trusted name for over 125 years, combining heritage with innovation.
