Job summary

RAC is hiring a Roadside Technician to join the Patrol division. You’ll perform mechanical roadside repairs, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK, starting and ending your day from home while servicing a local cluster.

You’ll receive a RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools and a diagnostic kit. Top performers can boost earnings through bonuses and overtime rates.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• 5+ years as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic or 2+ years with equivalent experience in a related role.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical roadside repairs and diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Deliver quick, confident solutions and reassurance to RAC members.

Where you'll work

You'll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering areas like Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood, Wareham, Swanage. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you'll need

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You'll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.
