Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to join the Bournemouth cluster, covering nearby areas and beyond. You will diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs and support members on the road, starting and finishing at home with your RAC van and full toolkit.

The role offers a strong base pay with realistic OTE and a pension, alongside generous holidays and exclusive discounts. You will be a trusted ambassador delivering top-tier member service daily.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent required.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic accepted as alternative.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points required.

Responsibilities

• Perform expert roadside repair and vehicle diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Handle calls locally, starting and finishing at home with RAC van and tools provided.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering areas like Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood, Wareham, Swanage. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need:

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
  or
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most. You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service. We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
