RAC Motoring Services is seeking a Roadside Technician to perform mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics across the UK. You’ll diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and provide confident support to members during emergencies, helping them continue their journey safely.

The role emphasises independent fault finding, decision making, and the use of advanced diagnostic tools, with a development programme and opportunities to gain IMI accreditation.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years' experience.
• Alternatively 5+ years' experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and a full UK driving licence with <6 points.

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You'll work independently to diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely. Every day brings different challenges, new environments and the opportunity to make an immediate impact when people need the RAC most.

You'll combine technical expertise with great customer service, using the latest diagnostic technology to identify faults and get members back on the road quickly and safely.

You'll be trusted to make decisions, supported to develop your skills and equipped with everything you need to succeed.

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience

or

5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

£36,400 base salary with a realistic OTE of £61,000, with top performers earning significantly more through bonus and enhanced overtime rates.

Starting and finishing on your driveway, with demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week and optional overtime available.

A structured development programme with hands-on learning, ongoing support and the opportunity to achieve accreditation through the motor industry's professional body, the IMI.

Strong base pay - £36,400 and realistic OTE of £61,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates
