Job summary

RAC is hiring a Roadside Technician to join our Patrol division. You will deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK, staying calm under pressure and solving diverse challenges on each call.

You’ll start and end your day at home, equipped with your RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, tools, and diagnostic kit. A strong base salary and achievable OTE reflect the important role you play for members.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• 2+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic or roadside operative.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Start and end your day at home, with an RAC van and diagnostic kit provided.

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' experience, you'll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway.
• Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

What you'll need

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
