Job summary

The AA in the United Kingdom is seeking a Roadside Rescue Mechanic to help members by getting them back on the road, wherever they are. You’ll be the friendly face of the country’s largest motoring organisation, delivering trusted service in all weather while working as part of a nationwide team.

Expect a 40-hour average week with flexible shift patterns. You’ll use your technical knowledge on the road, start from your driveway, and communicate clearly to resolve breakdowns efficiently.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience.
• Full category B driving licence with 6 points or less.
• Willingness to adapt to new technology and tools.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Responsibilities

• Start and finish on your driveway, paid from the moment you get in your van.
• Work independently across varied locations while remaining part of a supportive team.

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

As our Roadside Rescue Mechanic, you’ll go the extra mile for our members. Anything can happen whilst driving, but we are the AA and we get everyone back on the road safely so the show can go on. What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.

• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
