Job summary

RAC Motoring Services in Dorset/Bournemouth cluster looks for a Roadside Rescue Mechanic. You will be based locally, often starting and finishing at home, and you’ll perform fast roadside diagnostics and repairs to get members back on the road.

You’ll need a Level 2 qualification or 2+ years as a technician (or 5+ years’ experience) and a full UK licence. RAC provides a van, fuel card, uniform, tools, and diagnostic kit.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering areas like Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood, Wareham, Swanage. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most. You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.
