Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to join our Patrol division and deliver rapid roadside repairs and diagnostics across the UK. You’ll use your 2+ years of vehicle maintenance experience and a valid UK driving licence to assist members at the roadside, often starting from home before heading out to calls.

We provide a RAC van, fuel card, diagnostic kit, uniform, and tools from day one to ensure you can hit the road with confidence and deliver outstanding member service.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and breakdown support across the UK.
• Carry out fault finding and repairs on the roadside during calls.
• Represent RAC with high-quality service and customer care on every call.

you’ll receive:

A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.
