Job summary

RAC is hiring a Roadside Technician to keep the UK moving. You’ll diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs, and provide confident assistance to members.

Starting and ending at home, you’ll work 40 hours weekly with demand-led shifts; a RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools and diagnostic kit are provided.

Eligible candidates have LV Maintenance Level 2 (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience or 5+ years as a Vehicle Technician, plus a full UK driving licence.

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Join the RAC as a Roadside TechnicianJoin the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equilavent) and at least 2 years' experience, you’ll receive:

A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

What you’ll need:

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experienceor5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.
