Job summary

The RAC is seeking a skilled Roadside Technician to join our Patrol division. You'll perform diagnostic and roadside repairs, delivering fast, confident solutions to our members while working across the UK.

Start and finish your day at home with full support and a dedicated RAC van, fuel card, and tools. Candidates should have a Level 2 LV Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, plus a clean UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• Alternatively 5+ years' experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical roadside repairs and diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Start and finish each day at home with the RAC van and equipment.

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' experience, you'll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £41,600 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable) and a realistic OTE of £65,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway.
• Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

Where you'll work:

You’ll be part of the Bromley cluster, covering areas like Bromley, Orpington, Beckenham, Chislehurst, Sidcup, Eltham, Woolwich, Greenwich, Lewisham, Peckham, Camberwell. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need:

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault‑finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most. You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside – combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
