Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to repair, diagnose and support members on the roadside throughout the UK. You’ll start and end your day at home, operate a RAC van with full tools, and be part of the Stockport cluster serving Manchester, Stockport and surrounding areas.

You’ll need an NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or 5+ years of experience as a Vehicle Technician, plus a full UK driving licence with <6 points. A base salary of £42,921.87 with an OTE of £60,000+ is offered, with strong benefits and career progression.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Stockport cluster, covering areas like Manchester (City Centre, South & East), Stockport, Sale, Altrincham, Cheadle, Didsbury, Chorlton, Stretford, Urmston, Wythenshawe, Wilmslow, Handforth, Alderley Edge. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need

• Either :
• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• or
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• and
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set up your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided. The RAC has been a trusted name for over 125 years, combining heritage with innovation.
