Job Summary

Please note that salary will be pro-rated for less than 35 hours per week.

This post is only available to all permanent and temporary employees and agency workers currently on assignment within East Dunbartonshire Council.

Public Utility technician

Job Purpose

Undertaking site inspections in accordance with NRSWA1991, attended meetings with utility companies, stakeholders and other council departments as required.

Assist in monitoring utility & EDC sites for compliance with the commissioner's guidance and specifications under the NRSWA1991.

Assist with other roads network Operations duties as required.

The post will be based within the Roads Network Operations Team based at Broomhill depot Kirkintilloch.

The Council's Roads Neighbourhood Services is looking to recruit a part time public utility technician, (Although the intended workdays are Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday a degree of flexibility will be required subject to the business demands)

Tasks will include undertaking surveys/audits, upkeep of statutory records, installation of new lighting projects to required specifications/ design and associated documentation including sign off certification.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a determination to succeed and deliver first class results with a strong customer focus. They must be able to work both on their own initiative, with minimum supervision, and as part of a team.

East Dunbartonshire Council operates an out of hours emergency stand by rotas which the candidate can if they chose to participate.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate's first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee's wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee's final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required
