Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a Roadworker/General Operative in Newport, Wales. You will join a highway maintenance team performing drainage, potholing, fencing, grass cutting and other duties on the network.

You will operate small plant, carry out basic level setting, and follow safety rules. The role may include winter duties and some supervision of others, with opportunities to learn new highway skills.

Qualifications

• Must perform heavy physical manual duties for prolonged periods.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and take instructions.
• Able to operate construction plant (rollers, breakers, compactors, disc cutters).
• Willing to undertake training to expand skills and health & safety awareness.
• Must maintain basic work records and have basic literacy.

Responsibilities

• Work within a highway maintenance team to keep the network safe and available 24/7.
• Undertake potholing, drainage, fencing, grass cutting and similar highway works.
• Operate small plant and tools required for duties.
• Carry out basic setting out of work to precise levels and follow supervisor directions.
• Participate in winter maintenance duties and standby rotas if required.
• Contribute to records and health & safety assessments.
