Job summary

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency is recruiting a Commercial Vehicle Examiner (Enforcement) for shift work in and around London. The role involves roadside inspections of commercial vehicles, identifying defects and taking enforcement action where needed to keep Britain’s roads safe.

Qualifications

• Full and current car driving licence required.
• Qualified in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at level 3 or IMI/IRTEC registration as specified.
• Able to inspect and identify defects in commercial vehicles with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out roadside checks and stop unsafe vehicles from continuing their journeys.
• Prepare clear reports based on your findings.
• Present evidence at a public inquiry or in court when required.
• Work with colleagues, partner agencies and stakeholders to support enforcement activity.
• Use your technical knowledge to make decisions that support safer roads.
