About The Role

We are currently recruiting for a detail-oriented and proactive Road Freight Customs Coordinator to join our growing team in Ipswich. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with customs experience-particularly in European road freight-to take a hands-on role in coordinating UK and EU import/export declarations using a variety of industry-standard platforms.

You will work closely with operational teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure customs compliance and timely processing of road freight shipments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a collaborative customs team, reporting to a Team Leader, Supervisor, or Customs Manager.
  • Accurately process CDS import declarations and CHIEF export declarations using commercial invoices and packing lists.
  • Sign customs and shipping documents under Power of Attorney on behalf of clients, following correct compliance procedures.
  • Liaise directly with importers and internal operations staff to obtain and verify key documentation and data for customs entries.
  • Support clients with the classification of goods (tariff codes) and their implications on duty and VAT.
  • Input data and complete entries using specialist customs systems such as:
    • CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
    • CHIEF
    • CNS
    • Destin8
    • NCTS
    • NES
  • Ensure accuracy and legal compliance in all entries submitted to HMRC and associated authorities.
Key Requirements

  • Experience in customs clearance, ideally within a road freight environment.
  • Knowledge of UK customs procedures, tariff classification, and key documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, POAs).
  • Experience with one or more customs platforms (CDS, CNS, Destin8, NCTS, NES).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to process high volumes accurately and quickly.
  • Confident communicator with a proactive and team-oriented attitude.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
