Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Road Freight Coordinator to join our team. The role is fully remote, home-based, with all office equipment provided by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate domestic and international road freight shipments, including Full Truckload (FTL) and Less-than-Truckload (LTL).
  • Book and schedule transport with hauliers and subcontractors, ensuring efficient routing and cost-effective delivery.
  • Proactively monitor shipment progress, track delays, and communicate updates to clients.
  • Provide quotations and handle client inquiries on pricing, transit times, and customs requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, resolving operational issues such as delays, damages, or route changes.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and EU transport regulations, including driver hours and post-Brexit customs requirements.
  • Handle and review all required documentation (CMRs, customs declarations, invoices, commercial invoices, packing lists, PODs).
  • Liaise with customs authorities and Border Force for examinations or inspections.
  • Negotiate freight rates and monitor carrier performance to ensure service quality and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and stay up to date on Incoterms and regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvements and efficiency initiatives across the freight department.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven experience in road freight forwarding, transport, or logistics coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of road transport regulations, customs procedures, and cross-border logistics.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise – this is an essential requirement.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build and manage client relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience working with transport documentation and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of post-Brexit UK-EU trade regulations.
  • Experience handling hazardous goods (ADR), temperature-controlled, or time-critical shipments.
  • Familiarity with cost analysis, freight rate negotiations, and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Salary: £28,000 or more, negotiable on experience
  • Permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week)
