Job description

Job title: European Road Freight Operations Coordinator

Location: Chelmsford - hybrid working after probation (3 days from home, 2 in the office)

Salary: 28,000 to 35,000

General Purpose of the Position

The European Operations Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the efficient coordination and execution of international shipments. This role involves liaising between customers, suppliers, and transport providers to manage the full cycle of the shipping process - including quoting, costing, and invoicing - while maintaining a high standard of service and communication.

Main Working Relationships

Reporting to and working closely with the Operations Manager, the European Operations Coordinator will also engage regularly with customers, clients, agents, and key business stakeholders to support the smooth delivery of logistics services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the import and export shipping process from initiation to completion.
  • Obtain and communicate all necessary shipment information internally and externally to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure continuous alignment with customer needs and service expectations.
  • Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, and agents to gather up-to-date shipment details and ensure shipments meet internal standards.
  • Coordinate with transport providers to ensure timely collections and deliveries, in line with customer requirements.
  • Verify and maintain correct shipment documentation and ensure proper record-keeping.
  • Maintain and manage shipment files, ensuring accurate costing and billing in line with company procedures.
  • Foster strong working relationships with key customers to support retention and business growth.
  • Collaborate with key suppliers to implement best practices and drive cost efficiencies.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication across departments.
  • Carry out any additional duties as assigned by management to support departmental efficiency and service delivery.

  • Actively contribute to process improvements and performance enhancements within the operations team.
  • Support and adapt to changes in the role that contribute to departmental and business growth.
  • Work towards achieving personal and professional development goals as defined in appraisals and regular performance reviews.
