Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work in a specialist school supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). You will collaborate with an RNLD and a multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored care and education for pupils with complex needs.

The role focuses on supporting health, care, and well-being according to individual plans, while promoting independence and inclusion within daily learning activities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience with pupils with severe learning difficulties, complex needs or additional medical needs.
• Patient, empathetic, adaptable and confident working as part of a team.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and person-centred care.
• Willing to undertake relevant training and follow school policies and professional guidance.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and support their individual needs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with severe learning difficulties in a specialist school environment.
• Work with RNLD to support pupils health, care and well-being per individual care plans.
• Assist with personal care and daily living activities, maintaining pupils' dignity and independence.
• Support communication, sensory needs, emotional regulation and engagement in class activities.
• Help pupils participate in learning, social activities and wider school life.
• Monitor and report changes in pupils health, behaviour or wellbeing to staff.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, healthcare professionals and other support workers.

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work in a specialist school setting supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs, helping them access education while promoting their independence, well being and personal development. You will work closely with a Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities (RNLD), alongside teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team, to provide tailored support for pupils with complex learning and care needs.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties within a specialist school environment.
• Working alongside the RNLD to support pupils health, care and well-being needs, following individual care plans and clinical guidance.
• Assisting with personal care and daily living activities where required, maintaining pupils dignity and independence.
• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory needs, emotional regulation and engagement in classroom activities.
• Helping pupils participate in learning, social activities and wider school life.
• Monitoring and reporting changes in pupils health, behaviour or well-being to the appropriate staff.
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, healthcare professionals and other support workers.

Ideal Candidate:

• Has experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
• Ideally has experience working with pupils with severe learning difficulties, complex needs or additional medical needs.
