Position Summary
Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital
Cardiac Telemetry Unit cares for post-operative patients requiring cardiac monitoring and those with unstable cardiac conditions that demand close heart monitoring. The unit also takes patients from critical care when patient volumes exceed ICU beds. It is an excellent place for gaining experience with cardiac patients and serves as a starting point for those interested in progressing to the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, or Cath Lab.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on responses.
- Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes.
- Build respectful relationships with team members and patients, respecting diversity.
- Advocate for patients and families.
- Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning.
- Serve as a role model, supporting hospital and nursing goals.
- Assess growth and development needs over the lifespan, interpreting patient data accordingly.
- Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures.
- Maintain competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
- Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Communicate patient conditions and unit concerns clearly to the team.
- Provide compassionate and therapeutic care environments.
- Be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
- Support new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
- Maintain regular attendance per hospital policies and legal standards.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute to team knowledge, skills, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in or lead nursing practice and performance improvement committees.
- Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching activities.
- Use supplies efficiently and keep the work area safe and organized.
- Attend staff development, department, and committee meetings.
- Partner with leadership to identify and pursue professional development.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional growth and education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
- Maintain current Alabama RN license or valid multistate RN license.
- Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
