Position Summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital

Position Summary: Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  1. Assesses patient needs and develops/revises individualized care plans based on patient responses and progress towards expected outcomes.
  2. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Acts as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provides age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills for the assigned unit/department.
  5. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  6. Collaborates effectively with medical staff and interdisciplinary team members for planning and management.
  7. Serves as a role model and supports hospital and nursing department goals.
  8. Uses knowledge of growth and development to assess patient data and identify specific needs.
  9. Coordinates care and delegates tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Documents patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures, meeting all standards.
  11. Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and equipment use as per unit requirements.
  12. Prioritizes patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Practices effective problem-solving and resolution.
  14. Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicates patient condition and unit concerns effectively to team members.
  16. Provides compassionate, therapeutic care, demonstrating caring practices.
  17. Maintains awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
  18. Supports new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
  19. Maintains punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
  20. Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school. Meets competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific department.

Licensure/Certification: Valid Alabama RN license or equivalent multistate license, current BLS certification, and additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC as required for specific units. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for in-home nursing duties.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience unless approved for exemption. For Hospital Care at Home, a minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience is required.
