Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks a Level II Competent Registered Nurse to deliver patient-centered care, applying the nursing process from assessment to evaluation. The RN collaborates with the healthcare team to improve quality of care in the designated unit by incorporating evidence-based practice into daily patient care.

The position requires BSN, an active RN license, and certifications (BLS, ACLS) with NIHSS training within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and has experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state required.
• BSN required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• AHA ACLS Provider required within 60 days of hire.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel in assigned tasks.
• Coordinate involvement of patient, family and health team in patient care, including discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care with health team members.
• Assist Leadership to define standards of excellence for patient care and participate in improvement of services.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.
• Participate in orientation of new staff and trainees.
• Act as point of contact on hospital and departmental policies for nurses and health team members.
• Participate in daily operational activities for safe patient/staff environment.
• Provide input to Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in committees for nursing and hospital policy development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
