Baptist Health Princeton Hospital
Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized care plan based on patient needs and responses. Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate.
- Provides age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills for the assigned unit/department.
- Serves as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
- Collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team for effective care planning and management.
- Supports hospital and nursing department goals by serving as a role model.
- Demonstrates understanding of growth and development principles, assessing data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpreting information to meet age-specific needs.
- Coordinates care and delegates tasks appropriately to team members.
- Documents patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.
- Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
- Prioritizes patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
- Identifies and resolves problems effectively.
- Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team members' capabilities.
- Communicates patient condition and unit concerns to team members.
- Provides compassionate, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
- Collaborates with education and leadership to support new staff and students.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance per policies and standards.
- Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.

- Administers patient care in virtual hospital settings, utilizing TeleHealth technology for assessments and care planning, including virtual patient visits and collaboration with in-home staff.
- Provides care within the Hospital Care at Home program, assessing needs, developing care plans, and collaborating with support staff. Must be capable of travel within designated regions, use virtual technology, and manage urgent patient needs autonomously.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meets competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Alabama RN license or valid multistate eNLC RN license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas; NRP specifically for NICU.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for in-home visits.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience unless approved otherwise.
- At least 2 years of acute care nursing experience for Hospital Care at Home.
