Position Summary
Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking an experienced nurse to provide advanced patient care in a hospital or inpatient setting, particularly for patients with complex illnesses or injuries requiring intensive, timely interventions. The role requires a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment, therapies, high-intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
- Utilize assessment data to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Identify and prioritize information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused actions.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, interpret electronic displays, and respond to life-saving situations according to standards and protocols.
- Assess patient needs, develop and revise individualized care plans, and evaluate progress towards expected outcomes.
- Build respectful relationships with team members and patients, respecting diversity.
- Serve as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide age-appropriate care, serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage care.
- Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, and treatments.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
- Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
- Delegate tasks appropriately, resolve problems effectively, and communicate patient or unit concerns.
- Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environments and be aware of legal issues and patients' rights.
Specialized Responsibilities for ECMO Specialist
- Provide staffing for Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) services after specialized training.
- Work under the guidance of unit leadership, intensivist, perfusion, and collaborate with bedside staff to ensure optimal ECMO patient care.
- Perform technical skills efficiently and safely, troubleshoot crises, and manage emergencies.
- Operate ECMO equipment, monitor and optimize the circuit, and administer blood products and medications as ordered.
- Manage ECMO during transport and ensure continuous coverage.
- Participate in quarterly simulations and contribute to team training.
Other Related Functions
- Contribute to team knowledge, skills, quality improvement, and organizational outcomes.
- Participate or lead practice and performance improvement committees.
- Mentor peers, practice resourcefulness, and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including equipment maintenance and providing support in other units as needed.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved nursing school.
- Meet all competency requirements of Orlando Health and the specific department.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for certain units; NRP specifically for NICU.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-year nursing experience unless otherwise approved by AVP or higher.
