Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):- Administers medications within the scope of practice and hospital policies.
- Assesses, evaluates, interprets, and documents patients' physical and mental status.
- Establishes rapport with patients and significant others to understand care requirements and resolves patient problems through multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Promotes patient independence by setting care goals, teaching patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions.
- Ensures quality of care by adhering to standards, measuring outcomes, and making necessary adjustments per hospital and nursing standards.
- Maintains a safe, clean working environment by following protocols and protecting patients and staff.
- Protects patient confidentiality and maintains continuity by documenting and communicating actions and needs in the electronic medical record.
- Maintains professional knowledge through educational workshops, publications, networking, and participation in professional societies.
- Completes annual competency and regulatory education.
- Contributes to team efforts, measuring success via Press Ganey/HCAPS, AIDET, and Model of Care and Conduct.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of medical equipment.
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to administer medications per policy.
- Ability to follow the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Ability to interpret lab and diagnostic results.
- Effective communication with all disciplines using SBAR.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Courteous, compassionate attitude supporting organizational values.
- Clinical skills including bedside manner, infection control, medication administration, and teamwork.
- For ED/ICU: ACLS certification; for Med Surg: BLS certification; College Diploma in Nursing required; RN license required; CPR certification required.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- College Diploma in Nursing required.
- 0 years of experience required.
- Licensed Registered Nurse.
- Certified in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.
