Baptist Health Princeton Hospital
Administers patient care in an area within a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized care plan based on patient needs and responses. Evaluates the patient’s progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
- Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
- Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to plan and manage the unit/department effectively.
- Serves as a role model for staff and supports hospital and nursing department goals and strategies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan, assessing data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpreting necessary information to identify each patient’s age-specific requirements.
- Coordinates patient care and delegates tasks appropriately to team members.
- Documents patient care accurately, meeting all required and regulatory standards, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety.
- Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit-specific skills.
- Prioritizes patient care continuously in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
- Practices effective problem identification and resolution.
- Delegates tasks to healthcare team members based on patient needs and team members’ capabilities and qualifications.
- Communicates patient condition or unit concerns effectively to team members.
- Provides compassionate and therapeutic care, demonstrating caring practices for patients and families.
- Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
- Collaborates with education and nursing leadership to support new team members and students.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance in line with hospital policies and applicable laws.
- Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
- Contributes to the development of others and continuous improvement of healthcare quality and organizational outcomes.
- Participates and may lead nursing practice and performance improvement committees.
- Engages in peer review, mentoring, and coaching activities.
- Uses supplies efficiently and maintains a clean, safe, organized work environment.
- Attends staff development, department, and nursing committee meetings.
- Partners with nursing leadership to identify professional development needs.
- Assumes responsibility for ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Meets all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
- Maintains current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications are required for certain areas; NRP for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
